A Night to Remember: Sounds of Democracy 2026
Sounds of Democracy was one of those evenings that reminded us why gathering together matters. In a beautiful setting on Monte Sano, we shared incredible music from Mary Gauthier, meaningful conversation, and a night surrounded by people who care deeply about Alabama and its future.
We were so glad to share the evening with friends and supporters from across our community, along with many of the incredible candidates doing the hard work of moving Alabama forward. There was something especially hopeful about having so many people in one place who believe in what’s possible for our state — and who are willing to keep showing up to make it happen.

Widely regarded as one of America's finest songwriters, Mary Gauthier has spent her career telling stories of resilience, justice, belonging, and hope. Her songwriting is so respected that artists including Tim McGraw, Jimmy Buffett, Blake Shelton, Kathy Mattea, and Boy George have recorded her work.
Her Grammy-nominated album Rifles & Rosary Beads, co-written with veterans and military families, helped tell stories of service, sacrifice, and healing that too often go unheard. Mary's music embodies the same values that drive Persist Alabama: the belief that every voice matters, every story has power, and change happens when people come together and refuse to be silenced.
